Course Overview: This course is designed to equip workers who are required to work safely on construction sites where the worker has the potential to fall from one level to another. This course does not cover the erection of scaffold or work platforms, but it does include identifying and reporting common faults with scaffold or work platform systems.
Work at heights is undertaken in a range of construction work, including new construction, renovation, refurbishment and maintenance. This course may also apply to workers in other industries who need to control the two separate risks associated with people and objects falling from heights.
Target Audience: Workers in the Queensland building and construction industry.

Entry Requirements/What to Bring:
Participants must provide a USI number on enrolment and provide photographic identification on enrolment. Participants must provide and wear their own PPE for this course. This course contains safety critical information requiring participants have the ability to read, write and understand English and basic calculations.
Pre-requisites: CPCCWHS2001 Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry.
Delivery Mode: This course may be delivered by face to face delivery or blended learning
Duration: Initial Training: 7 hrs Renewal Training: 6 hrs

Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes
Participants in this course will learn the workplace and regulatory requirements for working safely at heights under applicable Commonwealth, state or territory work health and safety (WHS) legislation, Australian Standards and codes of practice
This includes understanding and ability to complete:
- hazard identification and risk control
- job safety and environmental analyses (JSEAs)
- safe work method statements (SWMSs)
- safety data sheets (SDSs)
- environmental and worksite safety plans
- reporting problems
- processes for planning to work safely at heights:
- assessment of weather and ground conditions that may affect safety while working at heights
- assessment of conditions and hazards
- determination of work requirements
- identification of equipment defects
- inspection of worksites
Interpretation of
- safety manuals and instructions for plant, tools and equipment:
- operation manuals
- manufacturer specifications
- safety signage and load charts for plant
- signage and barricades
Selection, fitment and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) used when working at heights.
Methods for identifying common faults with scaffold or work platform systems
Types, characteristics, uses and limitations of equipment used when working safely at heights

Assessment
Assessment is a combination of written questions/answers and practical demonstrations
On Completion: Upon successful completion, participants will be issued with a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment for CPCCCM2012 Work Safely at heights
