Fit testing Quantitative

Overview
Please Note: This course is not nationally recognised, rather an industry-based course required for authorisation to work on or near the Energy Qld Electricity Network.
Course Currency Status: Current
Course Overview: This course is designed to ensure the respiratory protection equipment wearer understands how to properly use a tight-fitting respirator and that it provides an effective seal, protecting them from airborne hazards in their work environment.
Target Audience: The target audience of quantitative fit testing includes individuals working in the Qld construction industry who are required to wear tight-fitting respirators in environments where airborne contaminants pose a health risk.

Entry Requirements/What to Bring:
Clean Shaven
- The wearer must be clean shaven where the respirator seals to the face.
Respirator Selection
- RPE Face protection (1/2 face reusable mask) Masks are available for purchase (additional fees apply)
- The respirator must be tight-fitting (e.g. P2/N95, half face, full face, or PAPR with a tight fitting facepiece.
- The specific make, model, style, and size of the respirator must be selected before testing
Medical Suitability
- Participants should be medically evaluated to ensure they are physically and psychologically suited to wear RPE
Delivery Mode: This course is delivered by face to face only
Duration: Initial Training: 45 min.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course learners will display the ability to:
- Inspect and maintain their RPE
- Successfully don and doff the respirator
- Successfully perform a positive and or negative pressure test on the RPE

Assessment
Assessment of Respirator fit is a combination of physical demonstration and testing using a prescribed Quantitative Fit Testing device (eg AccuFit or Portacount testing device)
On Completion: Upon successful completion of the fit testing participants will be issued with a report identifying the mask in which they passed the quantitative testing and are deemed suitable to wear.
