Course Overview:This course is designed to provide learners with the skills and knowledge required to operate a boom type elevating work platform less than 11 metres boom length, in accordance with relevant state/territory licence/permit requirements and regulations, in a variety of operational contexts. It includes inspecting and testing elevating work platform, assessing job and work requirements, planning work and setting up for lift, and carrying out elevation. It also includes implementing planned hazard controls and strategies, and packing up work platform after operations.
Target Audience: Workers in the Queensland building and construction industry.

Entry Requirements/What to Bring:
Participants must provide a USI number on enrolment and provide photographic identification on enrolment. Participants must provide and wear their own PPE for this course. This course contains safety critical information requiring participants have the ability to read, write and understand English and basic calculations.
Pre-requisites: Nil.
Delivery Mode: This course may be delivered by face to face delivery or blended learning

Learning Outcomes
At the completion of this unit of competency, you should be able to demonstrate the ability to:
- Apply precautions and required action to minimise, control or eliminate identified hazards
- Apply relevant legislation and workplace procedures
- Communicate and work collaboratively with others
- Read and interpret relevant instructions, procedures, regulations, codes of practice and manuals
- Complete relevant documentation
- Identifying and correctly using equipment, processes and procedures
- Interpret and follow operational instructions, implement contingency plans when required
- Modify activities depending on operational contingencies, risk situations and environments
- Monitor performance of equipment and work activities as per planned schedule
- Operate and adapt to differences in equipment in accordance with workplace operating procedures
- Plan works, predict consequences and identify improvements
- Report and/or rectify identified problems, faults or malfunctions promptly, in accordance with regulatory requirements and workplace procedures
- Select and use personal protective equipment conforming to industry and work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) standards
- Service equipment in terms of maintenance schedule and workplace operating procedures
- Work systematically with required attention to detail without injury to self or others, or damage to goods or equipment.

Assessment
Assessment is a combination of written questions/answers and practical demonstrations.
On Completion: Participants will be issued with a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment for
